Research from America has found that getting married or divorced can have a dramatic impact on an individual’s body weight, especially for those aged over 30.
The study, which was conducted by Ohio State University, found that the effects of these marital transitions are different for men and women. Women are more likely to have a significant weight gain within the two year period after getting married. Men, however, are more likely to put on weight after they go through a divorce.

According to the study, the weight gains associated with these relationship changes can be significant enough to cause a health risk.
