Police tackle domestic violence in Aberdeen

Police in Aberdeen have described a recent initiative to tackle domestic violence in the city as a success, Police Scotland has announced.

The operation ran over a weekend, and saw local officers being supported by an additional 14 policemen in carrying out high visibility patrols.

At least four men were arrested, and a total of 36 checks were conducted to make sure that people who were subject to court orders were complying with the relevant conditions.

Detective Inspector Kevin Walker, of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, said:

"This demonstrates the commitment of Police Scotland to tackle offenders of this type of crime.

“I would appeal to anyone suffering in an abusive relationship to come forward, as we have specially trained and experienced officers who can offer practical advice and support in all aspects of domestic abuse, as well as facilitating access to a range of other agencies."
